GWM Tank 300 vs BYD Shark 6 Hybrid
The BYD Shark is far superior to the Tank 300 Hybrid, in all aspects, except one. Lets start with the biggest concern regarding the Shark, if you want to use it as an urban run-about. That is it's length. It is two feet longer than the Tank 300. The Tank is 15 feet 7 inches in length, whereas the Shark is 17 feet ten inches. Does that make a huge difference in the maneuverability of both the vehicles? Not a lot. Even the difference in their wheelbase is less than two feet. End result, is that the Shark is not going to be drastically more cumbersome, than the Tank, in urban traffic. In every other parameter, the Shark is comprehensively better. Starting with the performance, the Shark is 83 h-p more powerful than the Tank hybrid. It is more than a second quicker to 100 k-p-h. But the best thing about the Shark, is its real world EV range of about 80 kilometers. That means ninety percent of your driving, will be done on home charging alone. That will straight away save a good 15 hundred dollars of fuel cost, every year. Plus, the Shark is already a bit cheaper than the Tank hybrid, to start with. The credit goes to BYD's plugin-hybrid platform, which is increasingly becoming the right path ahead, for the next decade or so, before the complete transition to pure EVs. Great Wall Motors also has a good plug-in platform, that they have showcased on the Cannon Alpha, which could be adapted, for the next generation of the Tank. But for now, the Shark remains the one to buy. Even in terms of interiors, the Shark feels much more modern and luxurious, compared to the Tank. On top of that, the Shark is also equipped with more features, than the Tank. Check out the pinned comment, for a comprehensive comparison, of tech and equipment, between both of them. You might have seen a lot of content being peddled criticizing the towing capacity of the Shark. But the tank has the exact same towing capacity as well. The Shark even looks like proper SUV with a canopy installed on its tray. However, if you are not in a hurry to buy a car urgently, you can hold on for a few months for BYD's Denza B 5. It is expected to cost the same as the top-end Tank, but with a mind boggling, 677 b-h-p. Plus it has a slightly bigger battery than the Shark, giving it fifteen kilometers of extra range, over the Shark. Plus the interiors and features are a step above the Shark. We have posted a link, to a quick, 3 minute video, comparing the Denza and the Shark, in the pinned comment, as well.
