BYD Sealion 6 Seal U DM-i vs RAV4
Toyota RAV-4's days of market dominance, are soon going to come, to an end. BYD has hardly started their plugin hybrid onslaught in the Global markets, and it has already exposed some big holes in RAV-4. First big hole, is of course the RAV-4s price. Down under, in Australia, Toyota somehow has the gumption, to price their non-plugin RAV-4, five thousand dollars, above the top-end Sea-lion 6! Which is just hilarious! Toyota needs to drop the RAV-4's price by ten thousand dollars, immediately! The Sea-lion 6 just humiliates the RAV-4, in every major attribute. Starting with the performance. Now, till the time Toyota continues to drag its feet, on the plugin RAV-4's launch in Australia, 220 horsepower is the maximum it has to offer. That is hundred horsepower less, than the Sea-lion's Premium variant, and that's the only Sea-lion variant, worth considering, due to its incredible value for money. And before you dismiss, the extra horsepower as unnecessary for your driving, just take a back-to-back test drive. The instant response, with which the Sea-lion accelerates, during every overtaking maneuver, is a sheer delight. On the other hand, the RAV-4 drones on with little progress, and a pronounced rubber-band effect, raising your blood pressure by a good twenty m-m-h-g, during most of the overtakes! Not to forget, the Sea-lion 6 has a decent, 70 kilometer of pure EV range. Almost 90 percent of your usage will be done on electricity, routed through your home charger. That's a straight saving of thousand dollars every year. Most plugin hybrid car owners, already report less than 5 visits to the petrol station every year. In the UK, Toyota is selling the plugin variants, but again at a ridiculous price! There's an eleven thousand pound difference, between the top-end trims of both these cars. On top of that, there's no difference in performance or the EV range of both vehicles. But when you enter inside the cabins, the difference is as clear as night and day. Even when it comes to features, the Toyota, seems two generations behind the Seal U. Check out the detailed comparison between the tech and equipment of both these cars, in the pinned comment. BYD is already lining up more plugin hybrids for launch in coming months. The Seal 5 d-m-i has already been launched in China, with a 10 thousand yuan lower price tag than the sea-lion 6. There's also the Qin L, with 120 kilometers of pure EV range, which has a similar price tag in China. Toyota on the other hand, has no improvements to the RAV-4 lined up, for the next 5 years!
