• The Skoda Kodiaq comes with a 4 pot 2L mill which pushes out a 148 HP @4000rpm and 340N.m @1750rpm which is mated to a 7 speed automatic gearbox.
• Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace on the other hand comes with a similar 4 cylinder 2L engine but this time it uses petrol instead of diesel and churns out an amazing 188hp @4200rpm which is a whole 40hp more than its competitor along with 320N.m @1500rpm. The transmission in the Kodiaq is the 7 speed DSG gearbox.

• The gears in the Skoda can be changed manually via the Paddle Shifter. Unfortunately the Tiguan has no such option.

• Both the cars have a very similar fuel economy.• The Kodiaq gives 16.25 KMs to the litre where as the Tiguan has a fuel economy of 16.65 kmpl.
• The 16.25kmpl economy along with the 63Lts tank gives the Kodiaq a claimed range of 600KMs
• The Tiguan Allspace has a comparatively smaller tank of 60Lts but along with the slightly higher economy of 16.65kmpl enables the car to have a range very similar to that of it’s competitor of somewhere in the ball park of 600kms.

2. Then there is the Mid-Tier model which is the scout that costs 33.99 Lakhs
3. The Top-end Model is the Laurin & Klement 2.0 TDI 4X4 AT which is priced at 36.78 Lakhs
• The Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace comes with one single variant which is the Tiguan Allspace 4Motion which is priced at 33.12 Lakhs
• This makes the top end model of the Kodiaq a whopping 3 lakhs more than the Tiguan’s.
VERDICT
Both these cars are very well made in terms of fit and finish and they have also have some beautiful engines. The cars also come with the most modern features you’d expect from such cars which is a plus.Although we think the Skoda Kodiaq is More accessible to the public as there are more variants ranging in prices which will cater to everyone’s need who are in the market for an SUV between 30 and 40 Lakhs.
